THE SITUATION
Our client is a leading entity in an integrated energy refining company in Thailand. With business expansion plans to global markets, the organization must ensure that its leaders possess leadership effectiveness that is comparable or exceeds global standards. The executives were extraordinary in technical competencies, becoming extraordinary in leadership competencies was to follow.
The Challenge
The Extraordinary Leader™ framework by Zenger Folkman was integrated into the executive coaching process. The research-proven approach focuses on identifying and developing the existing leadership strengths of each leader to reach the Extraordinary Leaders level, the 90th percentile in the “Overall Leadership Effectiveness Index” compared to global leaders.
Slingshot Group identified individual strengths-based both on self-perception and others’ perception using the EL 360-degree assessment to benchmark the leaders with Global Leadership Competencies. In addition to the competencies assessment, the team administered the Facet5 Assessment to identify each leader’s natural preferences to maximize coaching effectiveness.
The pre-assessment was followed by an intensive 6-session strength-based executive coaching with Slingshot Group executive coaches, which contained interim interventions from the team in contacting the executives’ peers in monitoring behavioral change during the coaching period. The post-assessment EL 360-degree assessment was re-administered to measure each executive’s improvements in leadership competencies.
ผลลัพธ์
The coaching results observed by coaches and executives were behavioral changes in communication, interpersonal skills, meeting & execution, and emotional intelligence. From the results of a post-coaching leadership effectiveness survey, which were used to measure a directional change in behaviors of individual executives, 20% of respondents rated development areas chosen by executives as “Obviously more effective” and 59% as “More effective”.
